The Boston Celtics grab their first win of the season against the Philadelphia 76ers, 102-92

The Boston Celtics would look bounce back from a 0-2 start as they visited Pennsylvania to take on their division rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers.  This would mark the first of four games that these two teams would play against each other as the 76ers hoped to avoid a 0-2 start in the regular season.  It’s been five years since the 76ers made the playoffs but with the new addition of Markelle Fultz, they have their eyes set on coming out of that drought.

The first quarter would be held closely as the 76ers shot thirty-three percent from the field and the Celtics shot thirty-eight percent from the field.  Jayson Tatum would score six points as he shot fifty percent from the field.  He would also pull down two defensive rebounds as Al Horford put up five points, three coming from beyond the arc and the other two coming from the free-throw line.  Former Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard Kyrie Irving would only shoot thirty-three percent from the field, earning five points.  He collected three of them from behind the arc as he recorded four rebounds and two assists.

On the other end of the floor, J.J. Redick would also put up six points as he knocked down a three-pointer in the process.  Jerryd Bayless ended up scoring five points as he nailed a three-pointer, as well.  Joel Embiid would only be limited to two points which he earned all from the free-throw line but he did manage to grab three defensive rebounds as the Boston team headed into the second period with a 24 to 21 lead.

During the second quarter, the Boston Celtics would shoot forty-five percent from the field as the Philadelphia 76ers shot forty-four percent.  Ben Simmons would shoot fifty percent from the field as he chalks up seven points.  He also grabs five rebounds as Redick would continue to add to his scoring total by knocking down two more three-pointers.  Dario Saric and Markelle Fultz would each be limited to four points off the bench but Saric managed to collect two offensive rebounds as Fultz grabbed one defensive rebound.

As for the Celtics, Brown chalked up seven points as he nailed a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  He also gobbled up two defensive rebounds as Irving scored seven points, as well.  Horford would knock down a three-pointer to give himself three points as he recorded one defensive rebound and one assist.  Terry Rozier would be held scoreless in the ten minutes that he played but did manage to grab four defensive rebounds as the 76ers entered halftime with a slight 50 to 46 advantage.

The Philadelphia team would come out of the locker room shooting thirty-six percent from the field, limiting the Celtics to twenty-six percent from the field.  J.J. Redick chalked up five more points as he knocked down a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  Embiid would shoot fifty percent from the field as he earns five points along with four defensive rebounds.  Fultz would only be limited to two points in the five minutes that he played.

On the other end of the court, Rozier would shoot sixty percent from the field as he collected seven points.  He earned three of those points from beyond the arc while grabbing one offensive rebound and two defensive rebounds.  2013-2014 NBA champion Aron Baynes would record six points as he pulled down two offensive rebounds and one defensive rebound.  Irving would be held to only two points in the eleven minutes that he played but he would manage to get ahold of one offensive rebound and one defensive rebound as the 76ers closed the third quarter with a 72-69 lead.

The Boston Celtics would look to make a comeback in the last quarter as they sparked up a 33 to 20 run, shooting sixty-seven percent from the field while holding the home team to thirty-nine percent.  Al Horford would start to heat up for nine points as he shot seventy-five percent from the field.  He would nail a three-pointer while doing so, along with pulling down two defensive rebounds.  Shane Larkin would come off the bench to shoot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field while collecting eight points.  He would earn three of them from behind the arc while recording two rebounds and two assists.  Kyrie Irving would only shoot forty percent but would score seven points, earning three of them from the charity stripe.

Robert Covington would help the 76ers out as he puts up six points and pulls down two offensive rebounds.  Bayless would record five points as he drills a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  Joel Embiid would drop four points while grabbing two offensive rebounds and five defensive rebounds.  Redick ended up shooting twenty-five percent while only scoring two points in the twelve minutes that he played.  Simmons would score two points, pull down two rebounds and dish off two assists but it was the Boston Celtics who escape with a 102 to 92 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.  Kyrie Irving finished with twenty-one points, six rebounds, and four assists as J.J. Redick would finish with nineteen points and four assists.  Joel Embiid would tie his career-high in rebounds as he pulled down a total of fourteen in this game.
