The Nets hand the Cavaliers their second loss of the season, 112-107

The Brooklyn Nets would be without D’Angelo Russell (23.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 5.5 APG) and Sean Kilpatrick (12.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 1.8 APG) for Wednesday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  They would hope to avoid their second straight loss as they hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Barclays Center.

During the first quarter of the game, the Cavaliers would shoot forty-one percent from the field while the Nets shot forty percent.  LeBron James shot fifty percent from the field while scoring eight points and collecting three defensive rebounds.  Kevin Love would also shoot fifty percent from the field as he dropped five points, collecting three of those points from beyond the arc.  He also pulled down one offensive rebound and three defensive rebounds while Kyle Korver came off of the bench to knock down a three-pointer.

As for the Nets, DeMarre Carroll shot seventy-five percent from the field as he chalked up eight points.  He would knock down two three-pointers in the process of doing so, along with two defensive rebounds.  Former Portland Trail Blazers’ shooting guard Allen Crabbe came off of the bench to chalk up five points as Trevor Booker would come off the bench to record two defensive rebounds and three assists.  Spencer Dinwiddie was limited to four points in the nine minutes that he played as the Brooklyn team ended the first quarter with a 26 to 23 lead.

The Cavaliers would shoot fifty-nine percent from the field in the second period while the Brooklyn Nets were limited to thirty-eight percent.  Jeff Green came off of the Cleveland bench to chalk up nine points as he shot seventy-five percent from the field.  He would collect six of those points from the three-point line as James scored six points and dished off five assists.  Korver would also chalk up six points, earning three of them from beyond the arc while Love gobbled up three defensive rebounds.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson would put up seven points while shooting only twenty percent from the field.  He would earn three of those points from beyond the arc and the other four from the free-throw line.  Carroll continued to contribute as he recorded six more points while Dinwiddie knocked down two three-pointers to give himself six points while collecting two defensive rebounds.  Booker would be held to only two points but managed to grab three offensive rebounds and two defensive rebounds as the Nets went into halftime with a slight 55-52 lead.

The New York team went on a 29 to 21 run in the third quarter as they shot forty-eight percent from the field, limiting the visiting team to forty-two percent.  Crabbe would come off the bench to drop nine more points which would all be earned from the three-point line.  Hollis-Jefferson would drop nine points, as well, while connecting for a three-pointer in the process.  He also pulled down two offensive rebounds and two defensive rebounds while former Cavs’ guard Joe Harris came off the bench to drop a three-pointer.  Quincy Acy would be held scoreless in the six minutes he played but did manage to get ahold of three rebounds.

LeBron James ended up with only five points in the eleven minutes that he played, three of those coming from behind the arc.  He also collected one offensive rebound and one defensive rebound while Kyle Korver would come off of the bench to put up four points.  Jae Crowder would be limited to only a three-pointer while J.R. Smith and Channing Frye would put up two points each.  Tristan Thompson was held scoreless but did manage to grab four defensive rebounds as the Nets went into the fourth period with an 84 to 73 lead.

The Cavaliers would respond with a run of their own in the last quarter, shooting fifty percent from the field while keeping the Nets at forty-seven percent.  LeBron James would continue to contribute with ten more points while shooting eighty-three percent from the field.  He would also grab four defensive rebounds while dishing off five assists in the process.  Korver scored nine points which would all come from beyond the arc.

On the other end of the court, Spencer Dinwiddie ended up dropping ten points to add to his scoring total while recording one defensive rebound and three assists.  Carroll would knock down a three-pointer and a free-throw in the quarter while grabbing three defensive rebounds.  Harris would come off the bench to nail a three-pointer as the Nets escaped with a 112-107 victory over the Cavs.  Spencer Dinwiddie finished with a career-high twenty-two points, along with five rebounds, and six assists.  LeBron James would finish with twenty-nine points, ten rebounds, and thirteen assists.

The Los Angeles Clippers would seek their third straight win as they hosted the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center, who were looking for their second straight win.  This game would mark the first of four matchups between these two teams.  The Clippers and Jazz met up in the first round of the playoffs last season as the Jazz defeated the California team, 4-3.  The Clippers, who are now without Chris Paul, would seek revenge last night.

The Utah Jazz shot forty-three percent from the field in the first quarter as the Los Angeles Clippers shot forty percent.  Ricky Rubio would score eight points while shooting sixty-seven percent from the field.  He would also collect one offensive rebound and two defensive rebounds while Joe Ingles connected for a three-pointer.  Alec Burks came off the Utah bench to hit a three-pointer as well but he also pulled down two defensive rebounds.

On the other end of the court, Patrick Beverley would also earn eight points with six of those points coming from beyond the arc.  Blake Griffin would contribute with seven points while knocking down a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  Danilo Gallinari ended up with four points and two rebounds as the Clippers ended the first quarter with a 27 to 20 lead.

The Utah team would go on a 21 to 15 run in the second period as they shot thirty-nine percent from the field, limiting the Clippers to thirty-five percent.  2009-2010 All-Defensive Player Thabo Sefolosha would come off of the bench to drop points while shooting sixty-seven percent from the field.  He would knock down a three-pointer while doing so as well as collecting four defensive rebounds.  Joe Johnson would come off the bench to also shoot sixty-seven percent from the field but would only score four points.  Rudy Gobert was limited to three points in the quarter while Derrick Favors and Donovan Mitchell were held to two points.

As for the Clippers, Gallinari would shoot only thirty-three percent from the field while collecting four points.  He also gobbled up two defensive rebounds while Austin Rivers would drill a three-pointer.  Blake Griffin ended up with two points in the seven minutes that he played while DeAndre Jordan received two points, two offensive rebounds, and five defensive rebounds.  Beverley would play for the entire quarter, only to be held to two points as the home team would go into halftime with a slight 42-41 lead.

The Clippers would respond in the third quarter with a huge 33 to 15 run, shooting fifty-seven percent from the field while limiting the visiting team to twenty-seven percent from the field.  Griffin would continue to add to his scoring total as he chalks up nine more points, along with five defensive rebounds.  Jordan would shoot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field to earn five points, which would go along with his four rebounds that he collected.  Lou Williams will come off of the bench to earn five points including one three-pointer.

For the Jazz, Gobert would collect nine more points as he shot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field.  He also pulled down three rebounds while Johnson would collect four more points.  Rubio and Favors would be held scoreless throughout this period while Sefolosha would collect four defensive rebounds off of the bench.  Rubio would manage to get off four assists as the Clippers walk into the last quarter with a huge 75 to 56 lead.

The Jazz would shoot sixty-three percent of the field in the last period while the Clippers shot fifty-nine percent from the field.  Mitchell would get hot for fifteen points on the Utah side, which would include three 3-pointers.  Raul Neto came off of the bench to drop five points, earning three of them from beyond the arc as Derrick Favors shot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field to earn four points.

The Clippers would finish things off, though, as Griffin drops five points which would include one three-pointer.  Rivers and Beverley would also collect five points each as they both shot sixty-seven percent from the field.  DeAndre Jordan would receive two points and two rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers easily pull away with a 102 to 84 win over the Utah Jazz.  Blake Griffin would finish the game with twenty-two points, nine rebounds, and six assists while Donovan Mitchell finished with nineteen points, two rebounds, and one assist.

The Philadelphia 76ers would look to avoid a 0-4 start to the season as they took on the 2-1 Detriot Pistons at the Little Caesars Arena.  During the first quarter of the game, the 76ers shot forty-one percent from the field while limiting the Pistons to thirty-eight percent.  Ben Simmons would heat up for ten points as he shot sixty-seven percent from the field.  He also collected three rebounds and two assists to go along with it.  Joel Embiid ended up shooting seventy-five percent from the field as he dropped nine points which would include one three-pointer.  Robert Covington played for ten minutes as he was limited to only one three-pointer while Amir Johnson would come off the bench to knock down a three-pointer and pull down five rebounds.

As for the home team, Andre Drummond would score seven points as he shot seventy-five percent from the field.  He also went up to grab three offensive rebounds and five defensive rebounds to add to his stat sheet.  Former Milwaukee Bucks’ forward Tobias Harris would only shoot twenty-nine percent from the field as he dropped five points, earning three of them from beyond the arc.  Avery Bradley also connected for one three-pointer as the 76ers ended the first quarter with a 31 to 22 lead.

The 76ers shot fifty percent from the field in the second quarter as the Michigan team would shoot forty-three percent from the field.  Dario Saric came off the 76ers’ bench to put up seven points, hitting a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  Embiid would shoot seventy-five percent from the field as he chalked up six points, along with three defensive rebounds.  Jerryd Bayless ended up connecting for two three-pointers as Simmons would record three more points, along with three defensive rebounds.

On the other end of the court, Reggie Jackson would come alive as he chalked up seven points and four defensive rebounds while shooting fifty percent.  Langston Galloway came off of the bench to knock down two three-pointers to give himself six points.  Ish Smith would also come off of the bench but he would drop four points as the Philadelphia 76ers went into halftime with a 56-43 advantage.

The Detriot Pistons would respond with a 24 to 19 run in the third period as they shot thirty-seven percent from the field.  Drummond ended up scoring seven more points as he pulled down one offensive rebound and two defensive rebounds in the eleven minutes he played.  New-guard Avery Bradley would shoot fifty percent from the field but only recorded four points as Harris recorded two points and two defensive rebounds.

The 76ers ended up shooting forty-one percent from the field as a team while Joel Embiid shot a perfect one-hundred percent.  Embiid chalked up eight points in the third quarter while Ben Simmons recorded six points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Covington would play for eight minutes as he knocked down a three-pointer and one free-throw.  He also managed to pull down two offensive rebounds as the visiting team closed the third quarter with a 75 to 67 lead.

The Philadelphia team would finish things off in the last quarter as they shot fifty-four percent from the field, limiting the Pistons to thirty-five percent.  Joel Embiid continued to impress as he chalked up seven more additional points, along with three defensive rebounds.  J.J. Redick would only be limited to two points in the eleven minutes that he played while T.J. McConnell came off the 76ers’ bench to drill a three-pointer.  Simmons recorded two more points, as well as one more rebound and two more assists.

On the other end of the court, Missouri-native Anthony Tolliver would come off of the bench to drop five points, earning three of them from behind the arc.  Bradley ended up shooting fifty percent from the field but was limited to only four points while Andre Drummond collected two more rebounds but it was the Philadelphia 76ers who escaped with a 97 to 86 win over the Detriot Pistons, giving them their first win of the season.  Joel Embiid finished with thirty points and nine rebounds while Ben Simmons ended his first triple-double of his career.  Simmons scored twenty-one points, pulled down twelve rebounds and dished off ten assists.  Reggie Jackson ended up with sixteen points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Milwaukee Bucks were coming fresh off wins against the Boston Celtics each.  They looked to grab a second win as LeBron James and the Cavaliers visited Wisconsin to take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.  Last season, the Bucks finished at sixth place in the Eastern Conference but would lose to the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs, 2-4.

The first quarter of the game would be held tightly as the Bucks shot fifty percent from the field while the Cavaliers shot forty-five percent from the field.  Former Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love would light the floor up with eleven points, shooting seventy-five percent from the field.  He would also do some work on the boards as he grabbed three defensive rebounds.  Dwyane Wade shot sixty-seven percent from the field but would only be held to four points but he did record one defensive rebound and two assists.  Derrick Rose would also score four but he earned two of them from the charity stripe as LeBron James and Jae Crowder would be limited to two points each.  J.R. Smith would also be held to two points but he did manage to grab two defensive rebounds.

As for the Bucks, California-native Tony Snell would drill two three-pointers to earn himself six points while Malcolm Brogdon would do the exact same thing.  Antetokounmpo would be limited to five points but he did gobble up two defensive rebounds while dishing off two assists.  Greg Monroe would come off the bench to score four and pull down three rebounds as both teams would head into the second quarter tied at 25 points apiece.

During the second period, the Ohio team would shoot sixty percent from the field as they limit the home team to forty-eight percent.  Giannis Antetokounmpo would start to heat up as he chalks up ten points while shooting fifty-six percent from the field.  He would also record one offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds, and three assists in the process of doing so.  Brogdon ended up scoring five points with three of those points coming from beyond the arc.

On the other end of the court, James would put up six points while shooting seventy-five percent from the field.  Rose would shoot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field as he records six additional points, two of those coming from the free-throw line.  Former Utah Jazz’s shooting guard Kyle Korver would come off of the bench to knock down two three-pointers as Jeff Green would also put up six points.  Kevin Love would play for six minutes as he is held to only two points but he would grab two defensive rebounds as the Cavaliers head into halftime with a 55-49 lead.

The Cleveland team would close things out in the fourth quarter as they went on a 30 to 24 run, shooting sixty-three percent from the field while limiting the Bucks to only thirty-nine percent.  LeBron James would add eight more points to his scoring total while connecting for two three-pointers.  Tristan Thompson would end up chalking up six points while collecting two offensive rebounds and one defensive rebound.  Both him and James would shot seventy-five percent from the field while J.R. Last night’s matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers would mark the first of four games that these two teams would play against each other.  But this game is special to the Laker Nation as this would be Lonzo Ball’s season debut.  Ball was the second pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft and so much is expected of him due to his father, LaVar Ball.  He would look to start off strong as they hosted the Clippers in the Staples Center.

During the first quarter of the game, the Clippers ended up shooting thirty-three percent from the field as a team while the Lakers shot twenty-seven percent from the field.  Blake Griffin would start off strong as he heats up for thirteen points, shooting fifty-six percent from the field.  He would also grab three defensive rebounds and one offensive rebound in the process of doing so.  Danilo Gallinari would only shoot thirty-three percent from the field, scoring four points but he would manage to grab two rebounds as DeAndre Jordan would grab nine rebounds.

As for the Lakers, Larry Nance would drop six points while collecting two offensive rebounds and three defensive rebounds.  Former New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets’ center Brook Lopez would chalk up five points, three coming from behind the arc and the other two coming from the free-throw line.  Lonzo Ball would play for ten minutes only to be held scoreless but he did pull down five defensive rebounds as the Clippers ended the first quarter with a 27 to 19 lead.

The Los Angeles Lakers shot forty-six percent from the field in the second period, limiting the Los Angeles Clippers to thirty-eight percent.  Jordan Clarkson would come off of the bench to score seven points while shooting sixty percent.  He would also hit a three-pointer in the process of doing so while Brandon Ingram would score three points but he would only shoot twenty-five percent from the field.  Lonzo Ball would knock down a three-pointer while going up for four defensive rebounds.

On the other end of the floor, Patrick Beverley would start to feel it as he chalks up seven points, hitting a three-pointer in the process.  Jordan would continue to do work on the boards as he pulls down three offensive rebounds and four defensive rebounds.  Griffin scored five additional points while grabbing three defensive rebounds as they close the first half with a 53-42 advantage.

During the third period, the Clippers sparked a large 34 to 21 run as they forty-eight percent from the field, limiting the Lakers to forty-one percent from the field.  Blake Griffin would continue to impress as he drops nine points, three coming from beyond the arc.  He would also collect four rebounds as Gallinari managed to connect for two three-pointers, giving himself six points.  DeAndre Jordan would gather up six more rebounds as Beverley would connect for a three.

As for the Lakers, Lopez would shoot fifty percent from the field as he earned himself eight points.  Clarkson ended up scoring four points as he also shot fifty percent from the field.  Nance also put up four points but he would grab one offensive rebound and four defensive rebounds in the process of doing so.  Lonzo Ball would be held scoreless in this quarter but he would manage to give out three assists as the Clippers ended the third quarter with an 87-63 lead.

The Lakers would make a 29 to 21 run in the fourth quarter as they shot fifty-two percent from the field, limiting the Clippers to only thirty-six percent.  Rookie forward Kyle Kuzma would come off the bench to put up six points as he shot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field.  Brook Lopez would contribute with five points, earning three of them from the charity stripe.  He also managed to grab four rebounds as Brandon Ingram would be limited to four points.

Former Miami Heat center Willie Reed would come off the Clippers’ bench to score six points as he shot sixty-seven percent from the field.  Montrezl Harrell would earn four points off the bench as he also shot sixty-seven percent from the field.  Sindarius Thornwell would knock down a three-pointer as Griffin and Jordan would be limited to two points each but it was still the Los Angeles Clippers escaping with a 108-92 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.  Blake Griffin finished the game with twenty-nine points, twelve rebounds, and three assists while Brook Lopez would finish with twenty points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Lonzo Ball would only score three points in his season debut as a Laker.

Yesterday’s game between the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat would mark the first of four games that these two would play each other.  Last season, the Miami Heat finished at ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a 41-41 record, nearly making the playoffs.  The Orlando Magic, on the other hand, landed at the thirteenth spot in the Conference with a 29-53 record.

During the first quarter of the game, the Miami Heat shot fifty-four percent from the field while the Orlando Magic would shoot forty-six percent from the field.  Former Boston Celtics’ power forward Kelly Olynyk would put up seven points while knocking down a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  Hassan Whiteside would score six points while shooting sixty percent from the field.  He also managed to grab two offensive rebounds and five defensive rebounds as well.  Goran Dragic would also score six points while dishing off four assists.

As for the Orlando team, California-native Aaron Gordon would drop seven points which would include one three-pointer.  He also went up to grab three defensive rebounds to add to his performance.  Nikola Vucevic would put up six points, along with one offensive rebound and two defensive rebounds.  D.J. Augustin would come off the bench to contribute with five points but it was the Heat who ended the first quarter with a 37 to 32 lead.

The Magic would shoot forty-four percent from the field in the second quarter while the Heat would end up shooting only thirty-six percent from the field.  Evan Fournier recorded seven points, three coming from behind the three-point line.  Terrence Ross would score five points in the quarter while shooting fifty percent from the field.  Gordon would be limited to only four points but he would grab three rebounds to contribute.

On the other end of the court, former Sacramento Kings’ small forward James Johnson would chalk up four points while shooting a perfect one-hundred percent from the field.  Justise Winslow would play for eleven minutes, only to be limited to three points which he earned from behind the arc.  Wayne Ellington would also score three points as the Magic ended the first half with a 26 to 18 run.

During the third quarter of the game, the Heat would continue to struggle as they only shot thirty-eight percent from the field while the Magic shot fifty-six percent.  Elfrid Payton would drop nine points in the third quarter while shooting eighty percent from the field.  He would knock down a three-pointer in the process while he grabbed two defensive rebounds and dished off two assists.  Vucevic ended up scoring eight points while grabbing three defensive rebounds.

As for the South Beach team, Dragic chalked up five points while connecting for a three-pointer in the process.  Both Waiters and Whiteside would put up four points while shooting fifty percent from the field each.  Whiteside would also gobble up four defensive rebounds to add to his performance but the Orlando Magic would go into the last quarter with an 88 to 78 advantage.

In the fourth period, the Magic would shoot forty-eight percent from the field as the Heat shot forty-one percent from the field.  Hassan Whiteside would heat up for fourteen points while pulling down a total of eight rebounds.  He would also connect for his first three-pointer of his career.  Dion Waiter chalked up seven additional points while hitting a three-pointer in the process of doing so.  James Johnson would play for ten minutes only to be limited to four points but he did record three rebounds and six assists.

Last night’s matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics would mark the first of three matchups between each other.  Last season, the Cavaliers defeated the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, 4-1.  This season is a little different for both teams:  During the offseason, one of the biggest trades were made which involved Kyrie Irving being traded to the Celtics for Isaiah Thomas.  Isaiah Thomas was unable to play last night due to a hip injury but Irving looked forward to playing in front of the Cleveland crowd in a different jersey.

The Cleveland Cavaliers would shoot fifty percent from the field as a team in the first quarter while the Boston Celtics shot thirty-five percent from the field.  Georgia-native Jaylen Brown shot forty-three percent from the field as he collected seven points.  He would also crash the boards for two defensive rebounds as new-point guard Kyrie Irving would shoot sixty percent from the field, earning six points.  Gordon Hayward would only score two points before going up for an alley-oop and landing awkwardly on his leg, breaking his ankle.  He would have to be carted off the court as he only recorded five minutes.

On the other end of the court, J.R. Smith recorded six points which would include one three-pointer.  New-shooting guard Dwyane Wade and Tristan Thompson would score five points each but Thompson would also grab three defensive rebounds.  LeBron James chalked up four points, along with four defensive rebounds and four assists.  New-Cavaliers players Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose would also score four points as the Ohio team ended the first quarter with a 29 to 19 lead.

The Cleveland Cavaliers would shoot fifty-eight percent from the field in the fourth quarter as the Boston Celtics shot thirty-five percent from the field.  LeBron James would light the floor up with thirteen points including one three-pointer.  He also grabbed one offensive rebound and five defensive rebounds.  Both Love and Rose would each score five points while shooting fifty percent from the field.  They both would each knock down a three-pointer in the process of doing so.

Irving would heat up for ten points, nine coming from beyond the arc and one from the free-throw line.  He would also dish off three assists while Brown would score five points including one three-pointer.  Tatum would shoot sixty-seven percent from the field but would only settle for four points.

With one minute and four seconds remaining in the game, the Cavaliers would have a one-point lead.  Out of a Cleveland timeout, James would find Love in the corner for a wide-open three-pointer, giving the home team a four-point lead.  Kyrie Irving would then get fouled, sending him to the free-throw line as he only connects for one of his two free-throws.  Right before the game expires, Irving would attempt a three-pointer to force overtime but would not be successful in doing so as the Cavaliers hold on to win the game, 102 to 99.  LeBron James finished the game with twenty-nine points, sixteen rebounds and nine assists while Jaylen Brown would finish with twenty-five points and six rebounds.
