The New York Knicks were pretty impressive this game as they shot forty-five percent from the first half, keeping the Cavaliers at thirty-one percent. Things got a bit chippy in the first quarter as both LeBron James and Enes Kanter got into a shoving match, resulting in a double technical. Even though the Knicks had a strong 51-38 lead heading into halftime, both teams played well in the first half.
Tim Hardaway scored 12 points in the first half as he knocked down two three-pointers in the second quarter. Kristaps Porzingis drilled a three-pointer in the second period but overall, he collected ten points. Former Celtics’ guard Courtney Lee also earned himself ten points while Kanter pulled down seven rebounds.
LeBron James chalked up 13 points in the first half as he recorded three rebounds and three assists. Unfortunately, he committed five costly turnovers while Jae Crowder scored seven points. Dwyane Wade played eleven minutes off of the bench as he four points and four rebounds.
Enes Kanter got hot for 12 points as he shot fifty-six percent in the third quarter, grabbing five rebounds in the process. Hardaway had two three-pointers and two free throws as Crowder connected for two three-pointers for the Cavs. James was kept to just a three-pointer as the Knicks still had a 77-61 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Ohio team would make a huge comeback in the fourth quarter as Kyle Korver went off for 19 points, earning 15 of them from beyond the arc and the other four from the charity stripe. James recorded seven points to go along with four rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks as the Cavaliers came back to win the game, 104-101. LeBron James finished with 23 points, 12 assists, and 9 rebounds. Tim Hardaway ended up finishing with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to North Carolina to take on Kemba Walker (21.7 PPG) and the Charlotte Hornets (5-7). These two teams have met up a total of 103 times with the Cavaliers winning 62 games and the Hornets/Bobcats winning 41 of them. The New York Knicks will host Rodney Hood (15.7 PPG) and the Utah Jazz (6-8) at the Madison Square Garden. The Knicks and Jazz have met up a total of 94 times as the Knicks won 47 of those games while the Jazz also ended up winning 47 of them.
