The Utah Jazz cruise past the New York Knicks, 128-104

The New York Knicks are trying to put their current road trip behind them as they have lost the last three games which were on the road.  If they lose tonight in Utah, it will mark their fourth straight loss.  The Jazz, on the other hand, are on their longest winning streak this season at six games.  Tonight will mark the first of two times that these teams will play each other this season.


The Knicks and the Jazz have battled each other a grand total of 98 times in the past as both teams won 49 games apiece.


New York Knicks:

-Marcus Morris (neck; 19.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 1.5 APG, 43.8 FG%, 46.9 3P%)
-Dennis Smith (oblique; 5.2 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 2.7 APG, 32.5 FG%, 29.3 3P%)
-Allonzo Trier (coach’s decision; 6.9 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 49.3 FG%, 38.5 3P%)

The Jazz would have full control of the game in the first half as they shot sixty-five percent from the field, keeping the Knicks to forty-four percent.  Rudy Gobert scored 14 points as he shot a perfect one-hundred percent from the field.  He also had nine rebounds, one assist, and one block while Bojan Bogdanovic chalked up 13 points which included 3 three-pointers.

Donovan Mitchell helped out with 12 points while knocking down two three-pointers in the process.  Joe Ingles and Royce O’Neale combined for just eleven points.  Former Nuggets’ point guard Emmanuel Mudiay played the most minutes off the bench as he had eleven points.

As for the visiting team, Elfrid Payton put up 11 points while shooting fifty-percent.  He had a three-pointer in the first quarter while R.J. Barrett contributed with ten points.  Bobby Portis and Reggie Bullock combined for 15 points while Taj Gibson had two points.  Kevin Knox played 13 minutes off the bench but only had two points while the Jazz went into the locker room with a huge 72-53 advantage.

The Jazz would finish things off in the second half as they went on a 56-51 run.  During that run, the Jazz’s bench would step up.  Georges Niang had 11 points while 3 three-pointers in the process.  Mudiay and Tony Bradley scored a combined 17 points while Jordan Clarkson settled for four points.

On the other end of the floor, Wayne Ellington scored 11 points off the bench but it wouldn’t help much as the Jazz handed the Knicks a 128-104 loss.  Bojan Bogdanovic finished the game with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a season-high-tying one block while Frank Ntilikina had 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and one steal.

So…what’s next?

The New York Knicks will host Brandon Ingram (25.2 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 3.8 APG, 48.0 FG%, 40.4 3P%) and the New Orleans Pelicans (12-25) on Friday at 7:15 p.m.  This will mark the first of two times that these two ball clubs this season.

The Utah Jazz will host Devonte Graham (19.1 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 7.8 APG, 38.1 FG%, 38.9 3P%) and the Charlotte Hornets (15-24) on Friday at 9:00 p.m.  This will be the second and final time that they play each other this season.  December 21 was the last time they saw each other as the Jazz came away with a 114-107 victory.  During that game, Bojan Bogdanovic scored 26 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists while Terry Rozier had 29 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, one steal, and one block.
