After a Game 2 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies head coach, David Fizdale, went on a rant during the press conference about the poor officiating that took place during the game. He was later fined $30,000 by the NBA for his comments. The Grizzlies looked to prevent the Spurs from taking a 3-0 lead in the series last night. Game 1 was a blowout victory for the Spurs as they won, 111-82. Kawhi Leonard finished with thirty-two points, three rebounds and five assists. Marc Gasol finished with thirty-two points, five rebounds and two assists. In the second game, Spurs would defeat the Grizzlies, as well, with a 96 to 82 win. In that game, Kawhi Leonard scored thirty-seven points, eleven rebounds and two assists. Mike Conley ended up with twenty-four points, one rebound and eight assists. The Spurs looked to take a 3-0 lead in the series last night in Memphis.
Each team would start off hot as they each score 21 points in the first quarter. Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge would drop six points each, as Patty Mills comes off the bench to knock down two 3-pointers to earn himself six points, as well. As for the other team, James Ennis, Marc Gasol and Mike Conley would each drop five points. Gasol and Conley would earn three of theirs from beyond the arc, though. The Grizzlies would go on a 29 to 25 run in the second period as former Trail Blazers, Zach Randolph, lights the floor up with eleven points, containing one 3-pointer. Marc Gasol would shoot 60% from the field, earning himself six points, while JaMychal Green comes off the bench to collect four points. Kawhi Leonard would try to keep his team in it as he would chalk up ten points, which held two 3-pointers. He would shoot 60% from the field as Danny Green and bench player, Kyle Anderson, would each earn themselves four points but it was the home team that went into halftime with a 50-46 lead. Memphis would spark a huge 31 to 17 run in the third as Randolph, Gasol and Conley would each drop eight points. Gasol and Conley would, once again, earn three of their points from behind the three-point line. Zach Randolph would also add three rebounds to his stat sheet. LaMarcus Aldridge would collect eight points to help his Texas team out as Pau Gasol, Patty Mills and Kyle Anderson would come off the bench to each score three points. But it was the Grizzlies who would go into the last quarter with a huge 81-63 advantage. The Spurs would attempt to climb back as Jonathon Simmons comes off the bench to drop ten points, which would include two 3-pointers but, with the help of Conley’s nine points in the quarter, the Grizzlies would close it out with a 105-94 win, making the series 2-1. Mike Conley would finish with twenty-four points, one rebound and eight assists. Kawhi Leonard would end up with eighteen points, four rebounds and three assists.
