Today marked the first game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors in their Playoffs series. These two teams met up in the postseason last year, resulting in the Warriors defeating Portland 4-1 in the Semifinals. This will be the first time that Kevin Durant has played in the postseason as a Warrior. The Trail Blazers would look to get revenge as each team looks to start the series off on a good foot inside the Oracle Arena.
Kevin Durant would start off hot in the first quarter as he scores eleven points which included one 3-pointer. He would shoot 50% from the floor while pulling down six rebounds. Stephen Curry would also shoot 50%, as he collects nine points, including one 3-pointer. Draymond Green would work on the boards as he grabs four rebounds for the home team. On the other end, both C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard would drop twelve points each. McCollum’s twelve points would include two 3-pointers as Lillard’s twelve points included one 3-pointer but it would be the Warriors who end the first quarter with a 31-27 lead. The 2015-2016 Most Improved Player, C.J. McCollum, would heat up in the second quarter as he shoots 77% from the field, earning fifteen points which contained one 3-pointer. Lillard would also drop nine points, including one 3-pointer. After being held scoreless in the first, Klay Thompson would throw up seven points, which held a 3-pointer. Durant would collect five more points, including one 3-pointer as both teams would head into the locker rooms with a 56-56 tie. Stephen Curry would come alive in the third period, as he scores fourteen points, containing two 3-pointers. Former Thunder player, Kevin Durant, would earn eight additional points, shooting 60% from the field. On the other end of the floor, Maurice Harkless, C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard would each score seven points for the Oregon team. Harkless would shoot 60% from the field, including one 3-pointer. McCollum would shoot 37% from the field, as well as Lilliard, who also earned himself a 3-pointer. At the end of the third, the score would be tied at 88 a piece as they look to close things out in the fourth. The last period would belong to the California team as they go on a huge 33 to 21 run. The second-round pick in the 2012 draft, Draymond Green, would drop ten points, which included one 3-pointer. He would also grab three rebounds, get two steals and three blocks. Kevin Durant would earn himself eight more points as they escape with a 121 to 109 win, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. C.J. McCollum finished with forty-one points (his new career-high points in Playoffs), eight rebounds and one assist. Kevin Durant would finish with thirty-two points, ten rebounds and two assists.
